The 30% federal credit for buying ended after 2025

Homeowner-owned solar and batteries installed after December 31, 2025 get no federal tax credit, so our calculators show $0 for it. Lease and PPA companies may still claim a business credit; whether you see any of it depends on the contract.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are these calculators?

They use the state's average electricity price (EIA), typical quoted installation cost (EnergySage), expected output for one city per state (NREL PVWatts) and the solar export rules of your utility that we could verify. They are planning estimates; a real quote for your roof decides.

Is the 30% federal tax credit included?

No. The homeowner credit (Section 25D) ended for solar and batteries installed after December 31, 2025, so every calculator shows $0 for it. Lease and PPA companies may still claim a business credit; compare that in the lease vs buy calculator.

My state is not listed. What can I use?

Use the lease vs buy calculator with your own electricity rate, and the incentives guide for the federal rules. We add a state only after checking its programs against official sources.

Why do some results say "Not counted"?

Programs whose current value or funding we could not confirm from an official source are listed but not added to your savings, so the estimate is never inflated by a guess.
