Solar numbers you can check
SolarNiverse is an independent solar information site. We build free calculators and plain-English guides, and we show where every number comes from, so you can understand solar before you talk to anyone selling it.
Who is behind it
SolarNiverse is built and maintained by Moris (Maurycy), founder of Niverse Studio, a small web design studio. It is a sister site of ElectricNiverse. We are not a solar installer, a lender or a utility, and we are not tax or financial advisers.
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Nothing is published on their word alone: every figure is checked against a primary source before it goes on the site, and anything we cannot confirm is labeled as such.
What you will find here
- Solar calculators for 14 states, using each state's average electricity price, typical installed cost, expected solar output and the export rules of the utilities we have verified.
- Financing tools, including a lease vs buy calculator updated for 2026.
- Guides on incentives, financing, choosing an installer, solar panels and portable power.
How we check our numbers
- Primary sources first. Tax rules come from the IRS and state tax agencies; incentives from the agencies that run them; export rates and fixed charges from utility tariffs; electricity prices from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA); solar output from NREL's PVWatts; installed-cost benchmarks from EnergySage's published marketplace data. Each page lists its sources.
- No guessing. If we cannot confirm a value, we mark it as not verified and leave it out of your estimate, which our calculators show as "Not counted".
- Assumptions are labeled. Where a calculator needs a planning assumption (for example how much of your solar you use at home), it says so next to the result.
- Dated updates. Rules change often. Pages show when they were last updated, and our state data was last reviewed in October 2026, after the 30% federal credit for homeowner-owned systems ended.
Estimates, not quotes. Our calculators give planning estimates. Your roof, your utility plan and an installer's quote decide your real numbers. For tax questions, ask a tax professional.
How the site is funded
SolarNiverse is free to use. We may earn referral fees or commissions from partners, such as solar installers, lenders or product sellers, when you request a quote or buy through a link on our site. This never changes our numbers or which options we show, and pages with affiliate links will say so.
Your information
Our calculators run in your browser, and you do not need to give personal details to get an estimate. If you fill in a contact or quote form, we receive what you type in it; forms are delivered through our form provider, Formspree. See our contact page for how to reach us.
Found a mistake?
Tell us on the contact page. We check reports against the source, fix confirmed errors and update the date on the page.
